I Don`t Know What is Needed

Finding Where to Start

Sometimes, the hardest part of seeking support is knowing where to start.

You may know that something isn’t quite right. You might see your child struggling, becoming overwhelmed, anxious, distressed or dysregulated. School may be difficult. Family life might feel increasingly hard. Perhaps behaviour has become challenging to understand, emotions feel bigger than everyone can manage, or your child simply doesn’t seem to be thriving in the way you know they could.

Understanding Your Own Experience

Or perhaps it is you who is struggling.

You might have spent years wondering why certain things feel harder for you than they seem to for other people. You may be exhausted from trying to cope, adapt, mask or push through without ever really understanding why.

You may not know whether this is about neurodivergence, learning, cognition, anxiety, trauma, attachment, emotional wellbeing, sensory needs, life experiences, medical history — or a combination of many different things.

You don't have to work that out before you contact us.

That is part of what psychology can help you to understand.

Our Approach at Total Psychology

At Total Psychology, we start with the person rather than the diagnosis. We want to understand the whole picture: what has happened, what is happening now, what might be contributing, what strengths are already there, what needs are not being met, and what could genuinely help next.

What are the next steps?
